All of the coast of Odessa is lined with popular beaches. In the summer they are filled with beautiful girls, music, and visitors sampling tasty food. One of the most popular beaches is Arcadia Beach, which is located about 10 minutes from downtown.

Walking in Odessa you can see its history from classical Italian influences to Soviet era apartment complexes. On Deribasovskaya Street — the central street – there is a variety of restaurants, theatres, concerts and a promenade of people. The port of Odessa has ships from all over the world arriving daily.

In 1803, Tsar Alexander I appointed the 36 year old French emigrant, the Duke de Richelieu to be the mayor of Odessa. Eighteen months later, in 1805, the Tsar enlarged de Richelieu’s authority by appointing him to serve simultaneously as the governor of the three provinces of Ukraine. In the 11 years of his administration, the Duke de Richelieu acquired an extraordinary reputation as a statesmanship, both in Russia and abroad. His statue now points out to the sea, clothed inexplicable in a toga, presumably to indicate the source of Odessa’s wealth.

From there, the Russian empress Catherine the Great planned to expand into the Northern Greater Black Sea area. The fortress expanded rapidly, attracting numerous migrants, and soon a fully-functional town grew around it. It was originally named Yelisavetgrad, and this name remained untill 1939, when it was renamed Kirovograd, honoring Kirov, a Soviet official.

Kirovograd’s outskirts also enjoy the company of unique landmarks. One of them is the Strategic Missile Forces Museum, located on the territory of former highly secretive missile base, not far from the town of Pervomaysk. The visitors can enjoy a fantastic collection of rocket engines, assisting automotive equipment, models of nuclear warheads, and missile complex R-12 (which was the “lead character” of the Cuban missile crisis in 1962). But the most captivating part of excursion around the museum is visiting the underground command post, from where missiles are fired.

Though Kirovograd does not have a rich historic and cultural heritage, it attracts visitors with its uncommon and diverse sights. It also gives you the possibility to “touch” the country’s past and to feel the amazing atmosphere it carries into the future!

About Warsaw

Warsaw is Poland’s largest city and an economic, political, and cultural centre. The symbol of the city is the Mermaid, featured on the city seal. Warsaw is a bustling metropolis and features an unforgettable history. A city where a fourth of the terrain is covered by parkland and a city of culture for all tastes and budgets.

Warsaw is an unusual city situated in the centre of Europe, on the intersection of communication routes connecting the West with the East and the North with the South of the Continent. It fascinates visitors with history, climate, monuments. Arouses curiosity with its individualism. Intrigues with its multifaceted culture – the sequel of mutual influence of the Western and Eastern Europe.

Warsaw has been the capital of Poland for more than 400 years. Its story goes back to two siblings – Wars and Sawa (hence the Polish name: Warszawa) – who were nurtured by a mermaid. A mermaid with a sword and a shield is the symbol of the city. It has the population of nearly 2 million. Warsaw is a truly charming place.
