From there, the Russian empress Catherine the Great planned to expand into the Northern Greater Black Sea area. The fortress expanded rapidly, attracting numerous migrants, and soon a fully-functional town grew around it. Though Kirovograd does not have a rich historic and cultural heritage, it attracts visitors with its uncommon and diverse sights. It also gives you the possibility to “touch” the country’s past and to feel the amazing atmosphere it carries into the future!

About Ternopil
Ternopil is one of the largest cities of western Ukraine, located in its heart and having the status of an important trade center. It is a quiet, incredibly green city with a unique atmosphere, bright history and a plethora of interesting natural, historical and architectural sights.
The city’s main point of interest is considered to be the Old Castle, whose history started almost 500 years ago. It is the oldest surviving construction in Ternopil. Though the castle was a defensive bulwark, it could not escape the ravages of war: the fort was ruined several times, but was rebuilt again and again. In the 19th century, the castle was turned into a Russian classicist palace, and its remaining defenses were annihilated. Today, a stone wall with highly decorated gates surrounds the palace.
Amongst the architectural gems that give Ternopil its inimitable look, the Dominican Church deserves special mention. Built in the 18th century in the late Baroque style, its elegant towers rise in the historic city center. Near the church stands the Dominican monks’ living quarters. In Soviet times, the church was turned into a picture gallery; it is now active once again.
But even more ancient sacral buildings have survived in Ternopil. One of the old city’s most decorative landmarks is the Church of Exaltation of the Cross, built in the early 16th century on the territory of an ancient Kyivan Rus temple. At that time, it was often used to defend the city. It is not only the oldest building in Ternopil, but also the most unusual one, as the church has no domes. Recently, the church was restored and named the “Church on the Pond.” The ancient Church of Nativity, founded in 1602, is no less interesting.
But Ternopil’s calling card is its 300-hectare manmade lake, located in the heart of the city. The lake is as old as the city itself: it was created at the same time as the castle. Parks and gardens surround the lake, and it is a popular strolling place for citizens and guests alike.
Many distinct historic, architectural and cultural landmarks can also be found on Ternopil’s outskirts: almost every town and every village you will contains the ruins of some medieval castle, ancient church or monastery. The Kremenets Castle and the Pochayiv Lavra are the most popular destinations.
Ternopil is a very cozy and calm city. That is why so many travelers come here to not only to admire its sights, but to also feel the unusually warm and hospitable atmosphere of this amazing city.

About city
To most tourists, Ivano-Frankivsk is the gateway to the Ukrainian Carpathians. So it is often considered to be just a transit point on the way to one of the numerous health and ski resorts of Zakarpattia. But this charming city, with its parks, lush gardens, European-styled houses, and historical monuments, is worth staying in for more than just a night.
The heart of the city, customary for European towns, is the Market Square, surrounded by charming old houses. The square’s architectural ensemble is reminiscent of Lviv’s, which is why Ivano-Frankivsk is often called “Little Lviv.” In the center of the square stands the Town Hall – the only one in Ukraine that was built in the modernist style. The original town hall appeared here in the 17th century, but it was later rebuilt several times, settling on its current look in 1932. Today, the town hall houses a few pieces taken from the local history museum. If you choose to visit, you will find a collections of ancient furniture, weapons and books, as well as a tourist information center. One of the most famous fountains in Ivano-Frankivsk, the Egg Fountain, stands in front of the Town Hall.
The main gems of the city’s sacral architecture are concentrated near the Market Square. Built in the 18th century, in the Late Baroque style, the building of the former Armenian Church holds a special place. In Soviet times, the Museum of Religion and Atheism was inside. Now, it is a functional Orthodox cathedral called the Holy-Pokrovsky.
The Church of Virgin Mary, the oldest building of Ivano-Frankivsk, stands nearby.
In addition to fascinating historic and architectural riches, Ivano-Frankivsk is known for its leisurely and harmonious life. This quality is pleasurable before heading off to conquer the snow-covered slopes of the Carpathians!

About the Bologna Declaration
National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’ has replaced the existing study courses by structured, two-staged study programs according to «Bologna Model».
Bologna Process is a European initiative in order to bring the transparency and compatibility of the Higher Education across Europe. It defines three cycles of the Higher Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral study.
The main objectives of Bologna Declaration are to increase the mobility and employability of European Higher Education graduates, thus ensuring competitiveness of the European Higher Education on the world scale. Fully respecting the richness of the European cultural diversity, and thus the diversity of the Higher Education systems, Bologna Declaration seeks to articulate the European Higher Education around two main cycles. An employability of the graduates shall be ensured already after the first cycle. The mobility of the graduates around the whole European Higher Education Area will be possible, if the recognition of the degrees earned will be ensured. This is supposed to be done through the increased transparency of the Higher Educational systems, and the trust to the Higher Educational systems that in turn will be based upon the quality assurance of the programs and institutions.
By issuing the Joint European Diploma Supplement to all graduates and using the credit system (ECTS or compatible) the transparency can be reached. While the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) in the past was used only as a credit transfer system from one university to another, now it should become a credit accumulation system. Besides the credit accumulation in regular Higher Education programs, this system shall also provide the possibility to gain credits within an informal and non-formal education, thus taking on board the lifelong learning. The aim of Bologna Declaration is to increase the mobility of both students and staff across the European Higher Education Area. This goal will also require an identification and the solution of a numerous social issues. The joint programs and degrees offered by institutions from different countries will help to reach several goals of Bologna Declaration, and will therefore be further developed.
An important aspect of the student mobility, giving the possibility to move to the different country for further degree, is a system of credits used to recognize degrees and to accumulate credits. It is called the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits measure the workload of the full-time student during one academic year. The student workload of the full-time study program in Europe is around 1500-1800 hours per year. So, one credit is equal to 25 to 30 working hours. The typical credit ranges are 180-240 units for the first (Bachelor’s) cycle, and 90-120 units for the second (Master’s) cycle; 60 or more units have to be earned during the second cycle. There is no credit range for the third cycle. All Master’s courses are assigned a certain value in terms of ECTS. The successful completion of the full calendar year (12 months) of the Master’s course accumulates 90 ECTS credits.

Kyiv is one of the most beautiful cities of the world that picturesquely spreads on the Dnipro river hills. As others old cities Kyiv has no exact date of foundation. According to the legend, Kyiv was founded more than 1,500 years ago by three brothers Kyi, Schek, Khoryv and their sister Lybid. The city was named after the oldest brother Kyi. In the 9th century Kyiv became the capital of the Ancient Rus. The territory of this independent state stretched out from the Baltic Sea in the North to the Black Sea in the South and from Volga River in the East to the Carpathians Mountains in the West. Kyiv is often referred as “the mother of all cities” by Russians and Ukrainians and as a cradle of Slavonic civilization.
